Using one of the local holiday parks makes excellent sense. You're fifteen minutes from Carlisle's shops and restaurants, yet close enough to Sale Fell to be walking the hills after breakfast. The market town atmosphere beats staying in tourist hotspots, and the surrounding peaks like Elva Hill provide genuine solitude.
