Train enthusiasts will appreciate the three stations serving this East Yorkshire market town - Brough, Gilberdyke, and Broomfleet all provide excellent links to Hull and beyond. But Brough offers much more than just a convenient railway connection.

The Yorkshire Wolds roll right up to the town's edges, creating a proper patchwork of woodland and farmland that's brilliant for walking. Watery Dyke Belt and Skiftings Clump provide dense tree cover for longer rambles, while Ings Wood offers easier strolls closer to town. Terrace Plantation sits between them all like a green stepping stone.

Water features prominently in the local landscape. Welton Water and Melton Pond both offer peaceful spots for reflection, though Melton Bottom Quarry has that slightly wild, industrial charm that former gravel workings often develop. The lakes draw plenty of birdlife throughout the year.

Golfers rate Brough Golf Club highly - it's one of those courses that locals guard jealously but visitors always enjoy. The fairways roll with the natural contours of the Wolds, making for an interesting round without being punishingly difficult.

Brough sits roughly fifteen miles west of Hull, making it an excellent base for exploring both the Humber estuary and the Yorkshire Wolds Way. The M62 runs nearby for car access, though the train connections mean you could easily manage without wheels. Staying at one of the nearby parks like Cherry Burton Leisure Park or Manor Farm Camping puts you right in the sweet spot - close enough to nip into Hull for culture and shopping, yet surrounded by proper countryside for daily walks and cycle rides.
