Aylesford

Ancient stones mark the spot where travellers have crossed the River Medway for over two millennia, and Aylesford still feels like a proper crossing point today. This Kentish town sits in the heart of the Garden of England, where medieval streets wind down to the water and modern life moves at a gentler pace than neighbouring Maidstone just three miles north.

Maidstone's attractions lie within easy reach. Staying at one of the nearby holiday parks makes perfect sense for Kent exploration. You're positioned between the coast and the capital, with Canterbury 25 miles east and Dover's white cliffs an hour's drive. The surrounding countryside delivers proper Kentish scenery - hop gardens, apple orchards, and those distinctive oast houses dotting the landscape. Day trips to Rochester, Chatham's Historic Dockyard, or even a Channel crossing become entirely feasible from this central Kent base.
