Standing at just 203 metres, this modest hill above Porthmadog punches well above its weight when it comes to views. The climb from the village takes about 45 minutes through mixed woodland and open moorland, with a fairly gentle gradient that won't leave you gasping for breath.

From the summit, you get a proper bird's eye view of the Glaslyn Estuary and Cardigan Bay stretching out below. The railway line snaking through the valley looks like a toy train set, and on clear days you can spot Harlech Castle glinting in the distance. It's particularly lovely at sunset when the light catches the water.

Families with older children will find this a manageable introduction to hill walking - though the paths can be muddy after rain, so decent boots are essential. The route isn't waymarked, so a basic map helps, though locals are usually happy to point you in the right direction.
