Y Drosgl

Y Drosgl sits just south of Bangor, a modest peak that punches above its weight if you're after a proper hill walk without the slog. The summit itself is unspectacular - moorland in all directions, nothing dramatic - but the approach from the south is where it earns its place on your itinerary. You get sweeping views across the Menai Strait towards Anglesey on a clear day, and the walk itself takes roughly an hour each way depending on fitness.

It's a walker's peak, really. Not one for families wanting a short stroll, and you won't find any facilities up top - bring water. The local caravan parks like Ogwen Bank and Craiglwyd Hall are within spitting distance if you're basing yourself in the area for a week. Pair it with walks in the Snowdonia foothills and you've got a solid day out.

Go early morning when the light's decent and the weather hasn't had time to turn. Late autumn or early spring tends to be clearest. The terrain is boggy in places - proper waterproof boots are non-negotiable. If you're staying at Three Streams Glamping or Tros Y Waen, you're well positioned to tackle this without adding hours of driving to your morning.

Honestly? It's not essential. But if you're in Conwy for a week and have already done the bigger peaks, Y Drosgl fills a gap nicely. The views reward the effort, and you'll likely have the ridge to yourself.
