Wall in the Hall

The Wall in the Hall is Tiverton's indoor climbing centre, housed in a proper warehouse space that punches well above its weight. You get a vertical climbing wall - several of them actually, ranging from beginner-friendly to genuinely testing - plus bouldering areas where you can throw yourself at problems without needing ropes and harnesses. It's the sort of place that looks a bit rough around the edges when you walk in, but that's part of its charm.

Families with kids aged eight upwards will have a proper time here. The staff know what they're doing, and they'll kit you out with shoes and a harness if needed. Adults get a decent workout too - climbing is deceptively knackering. Allow two to three hours if you're serious, though you can pop in for an hour if you're just testing it out. It's not free, but entry won't break the bank.

What works well is that this fills a specific gap. If you're staying at Nirvana Glamping just down the road and the weather turns, you need something indoors. This beats an arcade every time. Come when it's quiet - mornings or early afternoons on weekdays - rather than after school when it's rammed with local teens. Winter's actually decent for it; you're warm, entertained, and you're not fighting the crowds you'd get at a soft play centre.
