Railingfield Copse

A proper woodland walk rather than a formal attraction, Railingfield Copse sits just outside Tiverton and delivers exactly what you'd hope for - tall trees, decent paths, and that particular Devon dampness that somehow makes everything greener. There's no visitor centre or gift shop, just woodland doing what woodland does best.

It's ideal for families wanting to let kids burn off energy without needing a destination at the end of it. The paths are manageable for most ages, though it can get muddy after rain - wellington boots are your friend here. Walkers will appreciate the peace, and honestly, it's the sort of place where you can actually hear birds rather than just assume they're there somewhere.

You're looking at an hour or so to properly wander through without rushing, maybe longer if you've got small ones who want to investigate every fallen log. There's no admission fee that I'm aware of, which is refreshing. Go when it hasn't poured for days, or accept you'll come out with wet feet.
