Vomit Point

The name alone stops you in your tracks, doesn't it? Vomit Point sits on the Pembrokeshire coast near Haverfordwest, and yes, it's exactly as blunt as it sounds - a clifftop viewpoint where the drop is steep enough to make certain stomachs turn. The walk to reach it is straightforward coastal rambling, with views south across Fishguard Bay that open up gradually as you climb.

Once you're there, you get why locals call it that. The cliffs fall away proper sharply, and if you're not great with heights, standing right at the edge does something to your inner ear. The vista itself is solid - sweeping water, smaller promontories jutting out like broken teeth, and on a clear day you can pick out features miles distant. It's the kind of place that photographs better in reality than in pictures.

This is walkers' territory, full stop. Families with young kids should be fine on the approach path, but the viewpoint itself demands caution and supervision. The whole outing takes an hour or so depending on your pace and how long you linger. There's no admission charge - it's open access coastal land.

Stay at Point Farm Campsite or Beachside Glamping Dale nearby, both five-star rated, and you're positioned to explore this corner of Pembrokeshire properly. Haverfordwest is close enough for supplies. Worth the drive if you're serious about walking the Welsh coast, though don't expect facilities or tourist infrastructure. It's just you, the path, and that rather alarming drop.
