West Blockhouse Fort

The squat stone remains of West Blockhouse Fort sit overlooking the Daugleddau estuary near Haverfordwest, a proper working fortification from the 1850s rather than some romantic ruin. Built to guard against French invasion during the Crimean War panic, it's genuinely small - you're not talking Caernarvon Castle here. The fort itself is honestly a bit underwhelming if you're expecting dramatic ramparts, but it's the setting that makes it worth the trip.
