Uamh Rubha na Lice

A short walk from Oban brings you to this sea cave, tucked into the rocky coastline where the Argyll landscape meets the water. It's a proper coastal scramble rather than a tourist cave with handrails and gift shops - you're picking your way over rocks and through boulder fields to reach the entrance. Once you're in, the cave opens up surprisingly well, with enough height to stand and explore the main chamber. The real draw is the location itself: you're standing inside a cave watching the sea lap at the rocks outside, which has a genuine sense of adventure to it.

This isn't a destination in its own right. It's the sort of thing you do if you're already staying around Oban and fancy a different kind of walk. Kids with some scrambling confidence will get a kick out of it; small toddlers will find it frustrating. You're looking at maybe 45 minutes total including the approach and a bit of poking around inside. The cave has been used for centuries - there's history in the rock walls - but it doesn't shout about it.

Free to visit and no formal opening hours to worry about. Timing depends on tides and weather, so check conditions before heading out. If you're staying at Oban Holiday Park or Tanunda Pods, it makes a proper little adventure from base camp.
