About Creag Bhàn
The reward at the top is genuine. On a clear day you're looking straight out to Mull and the Treshnish Islands, with Oban harbour sprawled below. Walkers will appreciate it more than families with small children - there's nothing interactive about it, just a viewpoint and bracken underfoot. If the weather's temperamental (and in Argyll, it often is) the whole thing becomes a damp slog through cloud, so pick your day carefully.
It works well as a half-day outing if you're based at one of the nearby holiday parks - Oban Holiday Park is barely over a mile away, and Loch View Luxury Pod sits about six miles off if you want somewhere more secluded. The walk starts near the town itself, so there's no faffing about with transport once you're settled.
Free to do, obviously. No facilities on the hill itself, so bring water and something to eat. The views alone make it worthwhile if you've got decent visibility, but it's not the sort of place to detour for if you're just passing through.
