Ty'n y Bedw Walk

The walk up to Ty'n y Bedw rewards you with views across Cardigan Bay that'll stick with you long after you're back at the car park. It's a straightforward hike from Aberystwyth - nothing technical, but the climb is proper steady and you'll feel your legs by the time you reach the top. The views are the whole point here: on a clear day you can see right across the bay, and the light does strange, lovely things to the water depending on the time of day.

This is ideal for walkers who want something more than a stroll but less than a full mountain day out. Families with reasonably fit kids will manage it fine, though it's not the sort of thing toddlers will enjoy. Allow a couple of hours there and back, more if you want to sit about and take photos. The path itself is well-trodden and easy to follow.

If you're staying at one of the glamping spots nearby - Dôl Swynol or Brynllwyd are both within spitting distance - this makes a solid morning or afternoon outing before you head back for an early dinner. Combine it with a wander around Aberystwyth's seafront and you've got a decent day sorted. The walk is free and accessible year-round, though winter weather can be a bit fierce up there. Spring or early summer are your best bets for actually being able to see what you've climbed up to see.
