About Disgwylfa
The walk itself takes you up through moorland and rough grassland. It's not technical, but it's relentless uphill for a good stretch, and the path can be boggy depending on weather. Allow two to three hours return from the car park. Bring proper boots, waterproofs, and water - there's nothing up there except wind and views.
This is a walker's outing, pure and simple. Not one for pushing buggies, and kids need to be reasonably fit and motivated. The summit itself is a bit underwhelming - there's no dramatic peak marker, just open moorland - but that's honestly part of its appeal. It feels remote without being inaccessible.
Stay at one of the nearby parks - Dôl Swynol or Brynllwyd are closest at just a couple of miles - and this makes an excellent morning or afternoon excursion from your base. Aberystwyth town itself is worth pottering around afterward, especially if someone in your group didn't fancy the walk. Free to access, obviously. Go in decent weather or don't bother going at all.
