Three Tuns Brewery Sales

Right in Bishops Castle's market square sits what claims to be Britain's oldest working brewery - a proper little operation that's been brewing ale since 1642. The shopfront looks unassuming enough, but step inside and you're transported into a world of copper vats, wooden barrels and the rich smell of hops and malt.

Three Tuns isn't your typical brewery tour setup. This is a working brewery first and foremost, where traditional methods rule supreme. The Victorian tower brewery is still in use, with gravity doing most of the work as beer flows down through the floors. Real ale enthusiasts will be in their element here - the XXX and Mild are proper old-school brews.

Families might find it a bit specialist unless the kids are genuinely interested in brewing, but it makes a cracking stop for anyone touring the Shropshire Hills. The shop sells bottles to take away, so you can sample their wares back at camp.

Location-wise, it couldn't be handier for those staying at nearby spots like Foxholes Campsite or Woodbatch Camping. Bishops Castle itself is worth an hour's wander, and the brewery slots nicely into a day exploring this market town. Just don't expect a polished visitor experience - this is the real deal, rough around the edges but authentic as they come.
