The Temple

Standing rather unexpectedly in the Carmarthenshire countryside, this 18th-century folly catches you off guard with its classical Greek columns and triangular pediment. The Temple was built as part of a grand estate's landscaping scheme, designed to provide a romantic focal point across the valley.

Architecture enthusiasts will appreciate the Doric columns and weathered stonework, though anyone expecting an actual place of worship might feel slightly misled. It's essentially a decorative garden building that's survived while the main house vanished long ago.

The surrounding parkland makes for a pleasant wander, especially if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like South Wales Touring Park or Riverside Holiday Park. Kids might find it all a bit underwhelming unless they're into playing hide-and-seek around the columns.

Access seems to be free, though the approach can be muddy after rain. Allow about 30 minutes for photos and a gentle explore of the grounds. It works well as a quick stop if you're heading between Swansea and the Gower Peninsula, but probably isn't worth a special journey on its own.

Best combined with other local attractions rather than treated as a destination in itself. The setting is lovely on a clear day, but there's not much shelter if the Welsh weather turns.
