The Forum

The Forum sits right in the heart of Hexham, a proper working theatre that punches well above its weight for a market town venue. It's the sort of place where you might catch anything from touring productions and stand-up comedy to local amateur dramatics and film screenings - the programme changes constantly, so there's rarely a dull week.

The building itself has character. It's not a grand Victorian affair, but it's comfortable and intimate enough that you actually feel connected to what's happening on stage rather than watching from the back of a barn. The staff know what they're doing, and the acoustics are decent.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Springhouse Boutique is just over five miles away, East Farm Glamping a bit further - adding an evening at The Forum makes for a civilised night out. Hexham itself is worth a wander beforehand; the abbey and market square give you plenty to fill an afternoon. Theatre-goers will obviously get the most from it, but it's also worth checking what's on if you're after something different from the usual holiday park entertainment.
