The Agricultural Museum

You'll find this place tucked away near Hythe, and it's the sort of spot that sneaks up on you - suddenly you're surrounded by Victorian farm equipment and realising you've lost forty minutes to a threshing machine. The Agricultural Museum is genuinely absorbing if you care about how people actually worked the land before everything went mechanical and sterile.

Inside, it's packed with proper old kit - ploughs, harrows, seed drills, the lot. There's a real sense of how labour-intensive farming was, and how ingenious people had to be with what they had. Kids tend to either love it or find it a bit dry, depending on whether they can imagine what any of it does. Families who've done Port Lympne Safari Park (six miles away) might appreciate a quieter afternoon here - it makes a decent contrast to the big cats.

The museum works well as part of a broader Kent trip. Dunn Street Farm Campsite and Broadhembury are both within five miles, so you could easily base yourself at either and explore the Hythe area across a few days. It's not the sort of place that eats up a whole day, but if you're interested in rural heritage or farming history, it's well worth a couple of hours.
