Shepway Cross

This is best for history enthusiasts and walkers keen on the less-obvious stuff. Families with fidgety kids will find it underwhelming. The Romney Marsh itself is rather austere and lovely in equal measure - plenty of space but not exactly dramatic.

The real pull is combining it with the nearby parks. Port Lympne Safari Park sits just 1.4 miles away and offers a proper day out if you've got children in tow. Daleacres Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite is equally close for a base. New Beach Holiday Park at Dymchurch gives you seaside proximity while staying rural. Shepway Cross works as a quiet morning outing before heading to bigger attractions - a proper historical pause rather than a destination in itself.
