Tea Table Plantation

Tea Table Plantation is a proper woodland walk just outside Worksop, tucked away in the Nottinghamshire countryside. It's not the sort of place you'll stumble across by accident - you have to know it's there - which means you'll get peace and quiet in a way that other, more famous forests don't offer.

The main draw is the walk itself. Ancient trees line the paths, and there's something quietly satisfying about being surrounded by that much greenery without crowds. If you're basing yourself at one of the nearby parks like Little Oak Camping or Olive Tree Caravan & Camping, this makes an easy morning ramble - nothing too strenuous, just a good stretch of the legs through proper woodland.

It works well for families with older kids who can handle a decent walk without demanding a playground every five minutes. Serious walkers will appreciate the terrain, though don't come expecting dramatic views or riverside sections - this is solid, dependable woodland rather than anything showy.

Bring proper footwear, especially after rain. The forest floor can be boggy in places. There's no visitor centre or facilities to speak of, so come prepared. It's the sort of place you'll spend an hour to ninety minutes wandering, then head into Worksop proper for lunch and a proper coffee. Worth the detour if woodland walking appeals, but it's not a destination in itself - think of it as a solid bonus activity while you're staying in the area.
