Cherry Tree Clump

A small stand of cherry trees in the middle of Nottinghamshire woodland - that's what you're getting here, and honestly, it's the sort of place you'd stumble upon by accident rather than plan a trip around. The clump sits just outside Worksop, surrounded by the kind of mixed forest you find all over the East Midlands, and it's pleasant enough for a woodland walk if you're already in the area.

The trees themselves are mature, gnarled things that must be decades old. Spring is clearly when this spot earns its name - white blossom would make the walk worth timing if you're passing through. The rest of the year it's just a quiet woodland corner, decent for clearing your head and spotting the odd bird, but not exactly a destination in itself.

For families, this works as a stopping point during a longer ramble rather than a stand-alone visit. Walkers exploring the broader Clumber estate will pass this way naturally. History enthusiasts won't find much - it's nature rather than heritage - but if you're staying at Clumber Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite or any of the other parks within a couple of miles, it's a convenient spot to stretch your legs.

Free to access, no time limit to worry about. Go in late April or early May if you can, when the blossom's out. Otherwise, save your energy for Clumber Park proper - 1.4 miles away - which has far more to offer. Cherry Tree Clump is a nice add-on, not a reason to come to this corner of Nottinghamshire.
