About Tai-isaf
This is really one for the history-minded rather than casual family days out. The site itself won't hold children's attention for more than twenty minutes, though teenagers interested in archaeology or medieval settlement patterns might find it absorbing. You're looking at reading the interpretive boards, imagining what life was like in this remote corner 700 years ago, and taking photographs of the valley below.
The walk itself is the real draw. Coming from Betws-y-Coed or staying at Porth Eryri Glamping nearby, you could easily combine it with other moorland walks in the area without backtracking. Allow a couple of hours including the walk both ways. Free to visit, naturally - there's no visitor centre or facilities on site, so bring water and check the weather before you head out.
Worth doing if you're already hiking in the valley. Don't make a special trip just for the ruins themselves.
