St. Mary and St. Martin Church

The church sits quietly on the edge of Worksop, a solid piece of local history that doesn't shout for attention but rewards a visit if you're staying nearby. St. Mary and St. Martin is a proper parish church with enough medieval bones to keep architecture buffs interested - think Norman foundations and later additions that tell the story of centuries of worship in one spot.

Walking through the door feels genuinely peaceful rather than touristy. The interior has genuine character: decent stained glass, a chance to sit for a bit away from the caravan park bustle, and if you're into church monuments and memorials, there's plenty to read. It's the kind of place where you notice the light changing through the windows as you stand there.

This works well if you're camped at Hallcroft Fishery, Bawtry, or Riverside - close enough for a midday wander without needing the car. Don't expect to spend hours here; thirty minutes to an hour is realistic unless you're genuinely into the architectural details. Families with restless kids might find it a bit too quiet, but it's ideal if you want five minutes of actual calm during a holiday.
