St Ceidio's Church, Ceidio

The church sits quietly on the Llyn Peninsula, a short drive inland from Pwllheli. St Ceidio's is properly old - we're talking medieval foundations here - and it's the sort of place where you can actually feel the weight of centuries rather than just read about it on a plaque.

What you get is a modest, working parish church with genuine character. The interior is simple, which is part of its appeal. No grand monuments or tourist crowds, just honest stonework and the kind of peace you only find in rural Welsh churches. The churchyard itself is worth a wander, with older graves tucked among the trees.

This isn't a major attraction that'll consume your afternoon. You're looking at 20 minutes to half an hour inside, maybe another 10 if you explore the grounds properly. It works well as a quiet stop if you're moving between other sights on the peninsula, or if you're staying at Tyn Ddol Camping and Glamping nearby and fancy a gentle walk into the village.

Family groups with older children might appreciate it, and it's genuinely useful if you're interested in Welsh ecclesiastical architecture. Younger kids will lose interest quickly though. There's no visitor centre or shop, so come with realistic expectations.

Free to visit, naturally. Best in decent weather when the churchyard is actually pleasant to sit in. If you're based on the peninsula, it's worth knowing about as a cultural touch point rather than a main event.
