It's free to wander round, though obviously there's the intention to buy. Go on a weekday morning if you want to actually talk to the makers rather than queue behind school groups. The gallery doesn't demand a half-day visit, but it's worth factoring in if you're based at one of the nearby holiday parks and fancy something beyond the standard attractions.
