Snear Hill

Getting to the top of Snear Hill is a bit of a slog, but the reward is a proper viewpoint across the Ribble Valley that makes the climb feel worthwhile. It's not a mountain by any stretch - more of a determined fell walk from Clitheroe - but on a clear day you're looking out over moorland and limestone countryside that feels genuinely remote despite being so close to town.

The walk itself takes the best part of an hour depending on fitness and how many times you stop to catch your breath. It's steep in places, boggy in others, and definitely not a casual stroll. Families with teenagers will manage fine; younger kids might find it tedious. Proper walkers and fell-running types will do it before breakfast without breaking a sweat.

What you actually do when you arrive is stand around, look at the view, maybe sit on a rock for a bit, then head back down. There's no café, no facilities, no gift shop - just the hills and the sky. That's either exactly what you want or a reason to go somewhere else entirely.
