History buffs will find this more intriguing than families with young children - there's not much left beyond timber ribs and metal fixtures, and the location can be tricky to pinpoint without local knowledge. The remains are thought to be from a 19th-century trading vessel, though details are sketchy at best.

Timing your visit is everything here. Check tide tables before making the trek, as high water completely covers the site. Even at low tide, you might find nothing more than a few blackened posts if recent weather has buried the wreck again.

It's free to visit, naturally, though don't expect interpretation boards or facilities. Allow an hour at most, and bring a camera - the wreck photographs well against the backdrop of Cardigan Bay, assuming you can actually find the thing.
