Saint Alkmund's Church

The tower of Saint Alkmund's rises above Shrewsbury's streets with genuine medieval presence - not polished, not overdone, just honestly old. This is a working parish church that's been here since Saxon times, though what you see today is mostly Norman and later medieval work. The interior has that particular quiet that only ancient stone churches manage, with enough light filtering through to make out the fixtures without feeling like you're in a museum.
