Rye Castle Viewpoint

It works brilliantly as a quick diversion if you're already exploring Rye's medieval streets - and honestly, you probably are, since the whole town is compact and walkable. The climb itself appeals to kids who like a bit of adventure without needing serious hiking boots.

Get there early morning if you can, when the light is soft and the town below still feels sleepy. Late afternoon works too, though by then the tea shops are calling. From here, the nearby holiday parks at Rye Harbour, Winchelsea Sands, and Camber Sands are all within easy reach - perfect for basing yourself while you potter about this part of the Sussex coast.
