Rew Copse

A proper woodland walk rather than a destination in itself, Rew Copse sits just outside Ventnor and offers exactly what you'd want from a forest on the Isle of Wight - decent tree cover, enough paths to keep you occupied for an hour or so, and the kind of quiet that makes you forget how busy the island can get elsewhere. The woodland is small and easily navigable, with paths threading through mixed trees. It's the sort of place where families with younger kids won't get frustrated by endless trudging, and dog walkers genuinely appreciate it. Come autumn and the light filtering through the canopy is worth the trip alone. You're looking at a straightforward walk rather than anything demanding - no scrambles, no surprises, just green. It works brilliantly as part of a wider ramble around Ventnor's hinterland rather than a standalone outing. Most people spend an hour here before heading to one of the nearby holiday parks like Appuldurcombe Gardens or Rusty Meadow for the evening. No facilities that I could find, so bring water. Free access as far as I can tell - parking is what you'll need to sort. Go early on a weekend if you want the place to yourself.
