Pixton Hill

The walk up Pixton Hill from Tiverton takes about forty minutes if you're not rushing, and it's genuinely worth the leg work. You're climbing roughly 1,000 feet through proper Devon countryside - farmland giving way to open moorland - and the views back towards Tiverton and across the Exe Valley are excellent, especially on a clear day when you can see for miles.

It's not a dramatic peak, mind you. No jagged rocks or scrambling required. What you get instead is that satisfying sense of having earned a bit of height without needing a map and compass. The trig point at the summit is modest but there, and walkers particularly seem to love ticking it off. Families with older kids (say, eight upwards) will manage it fine, though younger ones might find the exposed moorland section a touch bleak if the weather turns.

The appeal here is straightforward: decent views, a manageable hike, and you're only a few miles from Tiverton if you fancy refreshments before or after. If you're staying at Nirvana Glamping nearby, it's practically on your doorstep - close enough for a morning ramble without the drive. Free to visit, of course. Allow a solid two hours if you're taking photos and having a breather at the top.

Worth doing? Yes, particularly if you're already in the area. It won't set your pulse racing, but it's a proper little outing that leaves you feeling you've actually been somewhere rather than just walked round a car park.
