If you're basing yourself at one of the local glamping spots, New Plantation works as a low-key morning outing before heading into town proper.

It's not Instagram-worthy, and there's no dramatic views or historical signage. But that's exactly why it works. Real woodland, real Lancashire, real value for walkers who want to actually walk somewhere rather than photograph it.
