Forge Corner

A working blacksmith's forge tucked into the Ribble Valley landscape near Clitheroe, Forge Corner is the sort of place that stops you in your tracks if you know where to look. The forge itself is genuinely operational - you can watch craftspeople at work, hammering metal in much the same way blacksmiths have done for centuries. It's raw and real, not sanitised or over-interpreted.

What makes it worth the detour is seeing traditional metalwork happen live. The clang of hammer on anvil, the orange glow of heated steel, the smell of the forge - it gets under your skin in a way museum exhibits simply can't. History buffs will find it fascinating. Kids might manage twenty minutes before the novelty wears off, depending on their tolerance for standing still.
