Street art in Lisburn and Castlereagh is properly impressive - the kind of thing that makes you stop mid-walk and actually look up. This isn't some underground scene; the local council has backed serious muralists, and it shows. You'll find large-scale works scattered across both towns, each one with its own story - political history, cultural pride, local heroes. The scale of some pieces will surprise you.

The murals work brilliantly as a walking tour. Grab a map from the visitor centre in Belfast (only a short drive away) or just wander and spot them yourself - half the fun is the hunt. You could easily spend an afternoon doing this without spending a penny. History buffs will find layers here; families with teenagers tend to get more out of it than younger kids, though the sheer visual impact keeps most people engaged. Allow a couple of hours if you're doing it properly, longer if you're photographing everything.

Stay at Dundonald Touring Caravan Park just down the road and you've got a solid base. It's close enough to reach the murals in ten minutes, yet you're still within striking distance of Belfast's other attractions.
