Moor Pool

You'll find Moor Pool just outside Knutsford, a quiet stretch of water that's properly lovely for a walk but won't blow your mind if you're expecting something grand. It's the kind of spot locals know about - good for an hour or so if you're camping nearby at one of the parks within four miles, like Royal Vale or Greenfields. The water itself is peaceful, fringed with trees, and decent for a bit of wildlife spotting if you're patient. Bring binoculars and you might clock some waterfowl.

Historically it's got a bit of interest - it's an old industrial pool, which gives it more character than your standard modern lake. The walk around it is gentle, nothing too demanding, so it suits families with younger kids or anyone who doesn't fancy a proper hike. An hour max before boredom sets in, unless you're the type who genuinely enjoys just sitting by water and thinking about nothing.

Free to visit, no faffing about with tickets. Best done on a clear day when you can actually see across to the far banks - overcast and it loses some appeal. If you're based at Woodlands Park or Belmont Hall Camping for a week, it's worth popping over for a leg-stretch, but don't make it your main event. It works well as part of a Cheshire loop rather than a destination in itself.
