Moel Dinas

Standing at 1,148 feet above the Vale of Ffestiniog, this compact peak delivers views that properly punch above its weight. The summit of Moel Dinas takes about an hour to reach from the nearest parking spot, following a steady but manageable climb through moorland and rocky outcrops.

What sets this hill apart from its taller neighbours is the perspective it offers over Cardigan Bay and the Rhinog mountains. On a clear day, you'll spot Harlech Castle perched on its rock to the south, while the Snowdonia peaks create a dramatic backdrop inland. It's a cracking choice for families with older children - the route isn't too demanding, but there are enough scrambles over rocks to keep things interesting.
