Meathop Moss Nature Reserve (with boardwalk)

The boardwalk at Meathop Moss cuts straight through wetland that would otherwise be impassable - a proper clever bit of conservation work that lets you walk right into the heart of the reserve without trampling the fragile ground beneath. You're surrounded by reed beds and open water, with sphagnum moss underfoot if you stray from the wooden path, and the air fills with the sound of birds that you'd normally only hear through binoculars.

It's ideal for birdwatchers, particularly in spring and autumn when migrants pass through, though you don't need to be a twitcher to appreciate it.
