Old-fashioned elegance still clings to this Victorian resort town like morning mist over Morecambe Bay. Grange-over-Sands feels like stepping back fifty years - in the very best way. The promenade stretches along the bay shore, backed by well-kept gardens and handsome limestone terraces that speak of grander times when the railway first brought holidaymakers here.

Morecambe Bay dominates everything. At low tide, the vast expanse of sand and mudflats seems to stretch to infinity, crossed by ancient paths that locals know better than to attempt without a guide. Staying at one of the nearby holiday parks makes perfect sense. You get the best of both worlds: the tranquil bay setting with easy access to Lake District proper. Plus, after a day tramping the fells, returning to Grange's gentle seaside atmosphere feels like the perfect wind-down.
