About Meall Buidhe
The summit sits at around 2,400 feet and the approach is fairly direct. On a clear day - and you'll want clear - you get sweeping views across Loch Etive and down towards the coast. The nearby peaks create a decent ridge walk if you fancy linking a few hills together, which most people do rather than coming here solo.
It's not a technical climb. The terrain is moorland and loose scree in places, manageable for anyone with decent fitness. Most walkers allow three to four hours return, depending on fitness and how many times you stop for photos. The best window is May to September when the weather's less vile, though even then Argyll can surprise you with a sudden squall.
This works brilliantly as a midweek break from Oban itself - you're only 20 minutes or so from town, so it pairs well with staying at Oban Holiday Park or the highly-rated Tanunda Pods just up the road. Families with older teenagers who can handle a few hours on their feet will manage it fine. Younger kids might find it a slog without proper incentive.
