Lord's Piece

Lord's Piece is a modest Sussex landmark sitting just outside Petworth, one of those local spots that doesn't make it onto every travel guide but works perfectly if you're already in the area. It's a piece of common land with a simple, honest appeal - the sort of place where you can stretch your legs and get a feel for the Weald without needing to book ahead or pay anything.

Families with young kids might find it a bit thin on attractions - there's no visitor centre or facilities - but keen walkers and anyone interested in rural Sussex will find their time well spent. Allow a couple of hours if you're doing the full walk.
