It's not dramatic - no sheer cliffs or rare birds - but that's rather the point. The lake is excellent for a straightforward walk around the perimeter, with decent views across the water and enough space that you won't feel cramped even on weekends.

This works best for families who want a gentle hour's pottering about, or for anyone staying at Chichester Lakeside Holiday Park (practically on the doorstep) who fancies a post-breakfast stroll. The walk is flat and manageable for young children, though there's not much to actually do once you've completed the circuit - no tearoom, no playground, no visitor centre. Bring a packed lunch if you're making a day of it.

Worth combining with a visit to Chichester itself, which has proper Roman walls and a decent cathedral if you need more structure. If you're based at one of the larger parks like Haven Church Farm or Butlins down towards Bognor Regis, Long Lake makes an easy detour on the way in or out.
