Loch Long John

The Pod Over By is rated brilliantly and close by; Lochgilphead Caravan Park gives you more facilities if you need them. From either base, Loch Long John works well as a half-day outing, especially if you're already exploring the Cowal Peninsula or heading towards Inveraray.

Allow an hour or two for a decent walk, longer if you sit and soak it in. There's no charge to visit and it's accessible year-round, though winter brings weather that can roll in fast. This one's for people who actually want to walk somewhere quiet, not just pass through.
