Little Wood

A proper woodland walk rather than a manicured tourist spot, Little Wood sits on the outskirts of Tiverton and delivers exactly what it promises - trees, quiet, and the chance to stretch your legs without crowds. The forest floor is thick with bracken and leaf litter, paths wind between mature oaks and conifers, and on a decent day the light filters through the canopy in that way that makes you remember why you left the city.

It's the sort of place walkers will genuinely enjoy, especially if you're staying at nearby Nirvana Glamping and want an easy morning adventure without driving anywhere. Families with young kids will get an hour's entertainment maximum unless they're the type who stop to turn over logs and hunt for insects. Bring wellies if it's been wet - the ground holds moisture.

There's no visitor centre, no cafe, no charge as far as anyone can tell. What you get is breathing space, a handful of decent paths to follow, and the genuine feel of Devon woodland rather than a packaged experience. The walk takes between 30 minutes and an hour depending on how lost you're willing to get. Early morning is best - you'll have the place virtually to yourself, and there's something satisfying about being the only person around.

If you're in the area for a longer park break, it's worth combining with a wander into Tiverton town itself, but Little Wood works best as a standalone moment of forest therapy rather than part of a grand itinerary.
