Little Ganavan

Just north of Oban, Little Ganavan is a proper coastal spot where the Argyll shoreline shows off properly. It's a small rocky beach and headland affair - nothing elaborate, but that's rather the point. The walk out to the point itself takes about twenty minutes and the views back across the bay toward Oban are genuinely decent, especially on a clear day when you can clock the islands beyond.

It works best for people who like a straightforward seaside ramble without the crowds. Families with older kids will find the rocky terrain interesting enough; younger ones might get bored once they've clambered on the stones for a bit. The rock pools are worth a poke around if the tide's out, though there's nothing spectacularly rare to spot. Walkers passing through the area should absolutely swing by - it's a natural circuit walk from Oban itself if you've got an hour or so spare.

The whole thing is free and there's no formal opening hours to worry about. Go when the weather's decent because wind and drizzle make it a rather grey proposition. It sits within easy reach of several caravan parks around Oban - Oban Holiday Park is about three miles away, and North Ledaig Caravan Park slightly further - so it's a useful half-day add-on if you're basing yourself in the area for a few nights. Don't expect facilities or visitor infrastructure. It's just you, the rocks, and the water.
