Late prehistoric walled settlement

The Late prehistoric walled settlement near Barnard Castle is one of those archaeological sites that rewards curiosity more than casual passing-through. Barnard Castle itself is only a few miles away, so this works well as part of a longer ramble around the area. If you're based at one of the caravan parks nearby - The Old Armoury is closest at under two miles - it's worth seeking out on a decent day when you fancy something off the usual tourist track. Don't make it your primary reason for a day out, but don't skip it either if Iron Age settlement patterns interest you.
