The big cats are always the draw - people queue up for them - but honestly, the smaller enclosures often have more activity. You'll see primates, reptiles, birds, the lot. On a busy day it can get rammed, so arriving early helps.

It's free admission, which is a genuine plus when you're calculating holiday costs. The setting near Milnthorpe means you're close enough to Fell End Holiday Park or Once Upon a Fell if you're camping locally. Families with younger children get the most out of it - there's enough novelty to keep them engaged without needing to be serious wildlife enthusiasts. Teenagers might find it a bit tame compared to larger zoos.

Weather matters here. Rain doesn't close it, but you'll want decent boots and a waterproof if the forecast looks dodgy. Summer weekends get properly busy, so a weekday visit in shoulder season - May or September - is the smarter call.
