Jerry Plantation

Jerry Plantation is a proper woodland walk just outside Driffield, the sort of place locals know about but visitors often miss. It's a managed forest with decent paths running through mixed woodland - nothing dramatic, but genuinely pleasant if you're staying in the area and fancy stretching your legs without driving far.

The appeal is straightforward: mature trees, quiet walking routes, and a real sense of being away from things despite being close to town. It's the kind of spot where you can actually hear yourself think. The woodland floor changes with the seasons - bluebells in spring, decent colour in autumn - and the paths are generally well-kept. Allow 45 minutes to an hour depending on which route you take; it's not vast, but it rewards a gentle amble rather than a rushed circuit.

Families with primary-school kids will get decent mileage from it, though it's not a destination attraction - more a bonus outing while you're in Driffield for shopping or food. Serious walkers won't find it challenging, but it's a solid warm-up or wind-down spot. The real value comes if you're parked at one of the nearby caravan parks - Thorpe Hall Cottages or Parkdean Resorts Barmston Beach are within easy reach - and you need somewhere to burn off a bit of energy without committing to a full day out.

Go early morning or late afternoon for the best light filtering through the trees. Bring waterproofs - it can be muddy after rain.
