Holm Hill

Standing at just 159 metres, Holm Hill might not sound like much of a peak, but this New Forest high point delivers surprisingly expansive views across Hampshire's rolling heathland. The gentle climb through mixed woodland and open heath takes about 20 minutes from the nearest car park, making it an easy win for families with younger children.

From the summit, you'll get proper panoramic views stretching south towards the Solent and north across the forest canopy. On clear days, the Isle of Wight sits perfectly framed on the horizon. It's a cracking spot for a picnic, though bring your own refreshments - there's nothing commercial up here.

Walkers tackling the longer New Forest trails often use Holm Hill as a halfway point, but it works brilliantly as a quick standalone jaunt if you're staying at one of the nearby campsites. Families based at Hollands Wood or Holmsley will find it a lovely morning adventure before the kids get restless.

The hill sits just outside New Milton, making it easily accessible whether you're touring the coast or exploring deeper into the National Park. Allow an hour for the round trip if you're not dawdling, though the views invite a longer stay.
