Hannah Park

Hannah Park sits just outside Worksop and operates as a proper working nature reserve rather than a manicured attraction. You'll find woodland paths, open grassland, and if you time it right, decent birdwatching opportunities. The reserve manages its own conservation work, which means the landscape changes seasonally - spring brings wildflowers, autumn gets atmospheric with fallen leaves everywhere.

This is walker territory first. The paths aren't demanding, but they're genuine countryside rather than a stroll round a visitor centre. Birdwatchers come specifically for the migrant species; families with older kids who enjoy rambling will get more from it than those after playground facilities. Young children might find it a bit samey after half an hour unless you're really into spotting things.

It's free to access, and you can do a decent circuit in an hour or two depending on how often you stop. The real value is proximity to Clumber Park, which sits just up the road - that's where you'd spend a full day, while Hannah Park works as a quieter alternative or a morning walk before heading to the National Trust estate. If you're based at Clumber Park Lodges or Riverside Caravan Park nearby, this makes sense as a break from the busier attractions.

Bring binoculars if you've got them, decent boots for muddy patches, and don't expect facilities - there's nothing on site. It's the sort of place you visit because you want to walk in nature, not because there's much to 'do' in the traditional sense.
