It's not massively dramatic - no lakes, no grand vistas - but that's rather the point. Families with young kids might find it a touch dull after forty minutes or so unless they're proper nature types. Access appears to be free and open, though it's worth checking locally in Worksop before you head out, as facilities aren't obvious. Allow a couple of hours for a decent walk, or thirty minutes if you're just stretching your legs. The plantation sits well within reach of Clumber Park - just under 5 miles away - so you could easily combine it with the more famous attraction if you're basing yourselves at one of the caravan parks in the area. Riverside Caravan Park is closest at 2.5 miles. It's the kind of spot you visit when you want woodland, not when you want thrills.
