Guyzance Weir

The River Coquet thunders over Guyzance Weir with proper force, especially after rain when the water froths white against the dark stone. It's a Victorian engineering feat that sits just south of Morpeth, and honestly, it's the kind of thing you stumble upon rather than plan for. The weir creates a dramatic drop in the river, and in summer the pools below are deep enough that locals actually swim here - though the current can be strong, so it's not for messing about in.

There's a footpath that runs alongside the Coquet, making it easy to access the weir from the road.
